Jason Reynolds shows once again that it doesn’t matter what format he writes in - he can do it all. Stuntboy, In The Meantime combines Reynolds' authentic voice with the bold illustrations of Raul the Third to share the story of Portico Reeves, also known as Stuntboy. While Portico often has to deal with “The Frets”, his alter ego Stuntboy is able to keep them at bay while he tries to protect those he loves. There are big things that Stuntboy has to guard his loved ones against, namely the bully who lives in his apartment building and the very real possibility of his parents getting a divorce.
Reynolds addresses the very real feeling of anxiety in a way that is accessible and understandable but still manages to put a little humor into the mix. A great read for the younger bookworms in your life!
