Victoria Aveyard is the author of the much loved Red Queen series and has done an incredible job of writing another exhilarating story in Realm Breaker. This story follows Corayane, a pirate's daughter who soon finds out she is the last of an ancient lineage and the last hope to save her world from a violent end. She and several others band together to fight a vicious opponent without meeting their own end in the process.
The story takes place in the fictional Allward, and Aveyard does a fantastic job of building this world quickly in the first chapters. I quickly fell in love with the group of main characters and their slow burn friendship and painstakingly slow but beautiful romance. Realm Breaker is action packed and moves the characters through their journey slowly at first but then builds the momentum as the book comes to a close with an action packed and gut punching ending that surely means this is the first book in a series.
While this book started off slowly with world building and introducing the main characters and their roles in the adventure, I was enveloped before the story truly started and am left dying to read the next installment of this series. Overall this is a solid 4 out of 5 stars with the potential to be even better by the time the story wraps.
