Lucas Goodgame is the survivor of a mass shooting in which his wife, Darcy, was killed. Considered a hero in his small town of Majestic, Pennsylvania, Lucas struggles with with the ever fading line between reality and delusion that is caused by PTSD.
Lucas’s story comes out in letters to his Jungian therapist who he believes has abandoned him. He finds solace in nightly visitations from his wife in the form of an angel. Throughout the story, Lucas’ kind spirit pervades. Supported by friends and the healing power of creativity and community, he slowly comes to terms with what has happened.
This is a beautiful and captivating story that goes beyond the headlines of mass shootings that have become tragically common in our country.
