Jessica Goodman never disappoints. In her new young adult novel “They’ll Never Catch Us,” she portrays the life of two cross country running sisters who live in a small town known for its history of dead female cross country stars, which gives the town the name Deadwater. When a new girl joins the team, she is Stella and Ellie Steckler’s new biggest competition. At first Stella wants nothing to do with her, while Ellie confides her darkest secrets with the new girl, Mila. Soon though, Stella opens up to Mila and she realizes they are not so different. Stella has finally started to make a new friend since her newsworthy incident last season. But everything changes when Mila goes missing. At first the town thinks the Deadwater killer may be back, but as new evidence comes to light, they start to focus on the Steckler sisters. They could never kill anyone, right?
This book is filled with so many twists and turns. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Goodman makes sisterhood a huge point in this novel. It is definitely a good thriller read.
