After leaving Wakarusa, Indiana twenty years earlier, Margot reluctantly returns to her hometown to take care of her Uncle Luke who is in decline due to early-onset dementia. Soon after Margot’s return home, a young girl named Natalie Clark goes missing. Margot is a journalist and needs a big story to keep her newspaper job so she decides to start researching whether the current missing girl case is tied to the unsolved murder of a six year old girl from twenty years earlier.
As Margot begins researching the missing child case, she starts to have more and more questions about the inhabitants of Wakarusa. Someone is leaving threatening notes - who is it? Is her Uncle Luke somehow involved?
