Grace Johnson doesn’t know what to do next. Her husband has announced that he’s finished with their marriage. What?!
Grace doesn’t live close to her mother and she left home as soon as possible, leaving behind an abusive father. But her mother, an Elvis fanatic, is turning 70 and wants to go on a road trip to Graceland via all the garish stops that involve anything Elvis. Her mother rents a purple convertible “tank” and off they go.
But their trip doesn't go exactly as planned. They are forced to make an unexpected stop and Grace realizes she needs her mother just as much as her mother needs her. A Thousand Miles to Graceland by Kristen Mei Chase is a warmly funny, yet compassionate read. I would definitely recommend it.
